+ What is background screening?
Background checks and drug screening can effectively vet job applicants before you extend a Letter of Employment. When you customize your own background screening and drug test program, you’ll be equipped to sustain your company culture, safety, and productivity.
TestCountry Background Screening allows employers to maximize savings and sustain low turnaround rates. Thorough background checks and pre-employment drug testing will help identify unsuitable candidates.
+ How do you run a background check?
- If you’re a New Customer, browse your options and place your order.

Once a service is purchased, please download and send a completed Release Form to background@testcountry.com, or fax to (630) 566-0708.

We will schedule the candidates background screening. If you added Drug Test Services, we will send you an e-mail with the Authorization Form for the candidate to take to their drug screening (usually in 1-2 hours after the order is placed).

Results are emailed 1-3 business days after the background has been scheduled or after the candidate has completed their drug screening.

Our background checks are fully customizable. The most cost-effective options will be with one of our bundles: Basic, Standard, or Premium packages. Depending on the needs of your organization, a comprehensive background test can include any of these services:

+ How long do background checks take?
It usually only takes 1-3 business days to complete a background check. One of our dedicated TestCountry Customer Service Representatives will email your results immediately once available.
*If a Drug Screen is ordered, results will be ready 1-3 business days after the candidate has completed their drug screen.
+ What do employers see on a background check?
The information found through a background check is highly confidential. Only the purchaser of the Background Check will receive an email with access to results.
Employers are able to see all information presented in a Background Check. Some people might believe this is a violation of privacy; however, employers have the right to view the results of a Background Check because findings can greatly influence hiring decisions.
+ Can I find my background check order history in my account?
To make your life a little easier, you no longer need to manually reorder your background checks. Instead, simply call (800) 656-0745, and a Customer Service Representative will take care of your order right away.
+ What information do you need to run a Background Check on a candidate?
The Release Authorization form will require the following information:
- Candidates legal name
- Email address
- SSN
- Date of birth
- Current address
- Signature for consent
+ Why do you need Social Security Numbers?
SSNs are used to check whether the number is valid and belongs to the name they provided. An SSN Trace also returns any aliases or name variations associated with the SSN along with a list of recent counties where the candidate lived or applied for credit. Ultimately, SSNs help us return accurate information about the right person.
+ What if I don’t have some of the required information about the candidate?
All required information must be provided before starting a background check. GoodHire provides employers the option to ask candidates to complete their own information, effectively offloading the often difficult task of collecting the information yourself.
